How do you say Good morning and Goodnight in Italian? I want to say it to a friend I'm chatting with but I'm not sure about which one is correct.

They don't change depending on who you talk with.

Buongiorno (or simply "Giorno") Good morning

This is only used for morning

Buonanotte (or "Notte") Good night

This is only used when wishing someone a good night and sleep.
