I don't quite understand when I should use "man"

Hi! Look, "man" is just a general neutral pronoun. Some languages have it, some don't. It can be translated into "one".

It should be used whenever you refer to a general person and it is conjugated in the third person singular.

(ah saw davi included the "you" as well... here is another example anywayanywayanywayanyway I) davi is right would also add that "you" can be used, to sound a little less formal man darf hier nicht rauchen one can't smoke here you can't smoke here
