Proszę explain the meaning of kupować/kupić kota w worku. Is that like the English idiom buying a pig in a poke?

Yes Ania. It has exactly the same meaning, buying without inspecting the item beforehand.

If we translate it literarly, Kupować kota w worku is To buy a cat in a bag.
