How hard is it to learn Polish?

I would like to learn Polish but I'm not sure how difficult it is and how long it will take. Can you let me know how hard is it to learn it? Is it is possible to speak Polish, let's say, after one year?

Hi there,

I think you need to have a good reason to learn any foreign language, as achieving good results requires hundreds hours of work.

Depending on your native language, Polish can be a challenge. The pronunciation for English language speakers is quite difficult, as well as Polish grammar (cases and so-called aspects of the verbs in particular).

But learning Polish is certainly possible. I know some Polish language learners here at Repeto who achieved good results.

It is difficult to say if you will be able to speak it after one year, but if you work hard and include speaking lessons in your learning routine, you should be able to communicate at a basic level.
