Many websites and guides will tell you that the most common way in Polish to ask "How are you?" is Jak siÄ™ masz?. This phrase is informal and can be used with friends, family members, or people you know well. The truth is that is not so often used in real life.

I personally prefer two other phrases when asking how are you in Polish. These are Co u ciebie? or Co słychać?

If you want to be more formal, you can use Jak siÄ™ Pan/Pani ma? "Pan" is used for men, while "Pani" is used for women. This phrase is appropriate for use with strangers, acquaintances, or in a professional setting.

Another formal way to ask "How are you?" is Jak się Państwo mają? This phrase is used when addressing a group of people, such as colleagues or clients.

As mentioned, In addition to these common phrases, there are several other ways to ask How are you? in Polish. For example, you could say Co u ciebie?, which means What's up with you? or How are things with you? This phrase is informal and is often used among friends.

If you're feeling particularly friendly, you could also use Co słychać?, which means What's new? or What's happening? This phrase is also informal and is commonly used among friends and family members.

When someone asks you How are you? in Polish, you can respond with Dobrze, dziękuję, or W porządku, dziękuję which mean Good, thank you.

If you're not feeling so great, you could say Nie najlepiej, which means Not the best or Could be better.

In conclusion, asking How are you? in Polish is a great way to start a conversation and show interest in someone's well-being. Whether you choose to use the formal or informal version of the phrase, your effort to speak Polish will be greatly appreciated by native speakers. So go ahead and give it a try – Jak się masz?
